Other Ways to Support MPRC

At Maine People’s Resource Center – the sister organization of Maine People’s Alliance – we believe that we must stay the course across generations. Since 1984 MPRC and MPA have worked together to build a powerful movement that equips Maine people with resources and opportunities to lead progressive change. We want to be here to continue this work for another forty years and support every generation as they arrive to this movement. Your contributions can ensure their arrival is fully supported – no matter what and no matter when

“I am proud to be including MPRC in my will. I've been fed by MPRC, physically and spiritually, far in excess of what I will pledge upon my departure. MPRC and its leaders and volunteers give me much hope for the future of Maine and I look forward to helping MPRC for years to come.”

MPRC Supporter from Topsham

A sustaining, legacy gift can come in many forms, see some common options below.

Bequests

Include a gift as part of your estate and financial planning by adding MPRC to your will. If you are looking to make a will for the first time and don’t have an attorney, check out freewill.com to create your initial will and easily add MPRC as a beneficiary.

Stock Donations

For information about MPRC’s stock broker/company to transfer securities to MPRC, please reach out to MPA’s Co-Director Amy Halsted (amy@mainepeoplesalliance.org).

“No matter what the future holds for Maine, I know that we will need an organization that knows how to help everyday people have a voice in the decisions that affect our lives. That’s why I am happy that even after I’m gone, I can continue to support those who come next. It’s an honor to be a part of moving that forward, even in a small way.”

IRA Disbursement

If you are over 70 ½ years old, you may use the mandatory withdrawal amount – or a portion of the amount (up to $100,000) – from your IRA to make a charitable gift to Maine People’s Resource Center.

Life Insurance Beneficiary

You can name MPRC as a beneficiary of a life insurance policy just as you can name people beneficiaries.

“MPRC has played a huge role in my life and it is extremely important to me that the organization continues into the future. That is why I am including MPRC in my estate planning. So many of MPRC’s campaigns are important to me. MPRC has proven time and time again that everyday people can fight together with the drive and commitment it takes to see initiatives through to the end and win.”

Employee Match

Many employers offer matching gift programs and will match charitable contributions made by their employees. Check with your employer to see if they will match your gift to MPRC. You may also make a donation by payroll deduction through MaineShare.

Other Non-Cash Gifts

For other non-cash gifts you are considering to contribute to MPRC, please reach out to MPA’s Co-Director Amy Halsted (amy@mainepeoplesalliance.org) to discuss the details.

To make your gift tax deductible donation, please share MPRC’s EIN # 22-2586108 with your stock broker, financial advisor, attorney, employer, etc.

“I have been a proud MPRC member for many years because we stand up for all the people. MPRC is an effective organization, and we know how to win campaigns for social justice. But for me, the most important part of MPRC is the way the organization has supported me as a transgender person. I’m making a legacy gift because being part of MPRC is more than working with a team, it’s like being part of a family.”
Davida Ammerman
MPRC supporter from Addison

Any questions or if you have already listed MPRC as a beneficiary to any of the above types of contributions, please reach out to Development Coordinator Allison Riddle (allison@mainepeoplesalliance.org). If you are not ready to make a legacy gift but would like to make a one-time or recurring cash donation, you can make your contribution here.

Thank you for all the ways you support MPRC – your gift will sustain our mission for generations to come.
